Previously, 15-month-old baby elephant Wasana was admitted to the Elephant Hospital, Thai Elephant Conservation Center, Lampang Province on March 31 after being sick with EEHV or herpes virus. Veterinarians used "stem cells" to treat her for the first time in Thailand, along with medication and multiple blood transfusions. Other elephants under the care of the National Elephant Institute were brought to donate blood to the baby elephant.
